I have experienced a multiply challenging Fall 2018 semester, just concluded late yesterday afternoon, that unsettled my plans to continue to devise and share regular postings on subjects of interest and concern to me right here. But I will be returning to doing so soon. And I will engage in some critical reflections on exactly the aforementioned challenges as I do so, when I do so–among addressing an array of other topics as well. I have plans, now long delayed, to write at some length about my experience living with chronic illness, invisible disability, and mental health challenges, which I resisted addressing because the subject was too painful to take on at that length in the midst of so much else immediately drawing upon my strength, or immediately drawing upon my fragility and vulnerability (which, paradoxically enough, I strive to make sources of strength). But I will set that to right, soon, as it is a most important subject, and my experience with and perspective on that subject matters. I also plan to address an increasing priority focus across my teaching, and indeed across the rest of my praxis, contributing toward the cultivation of a culture of solidarity and advocating for a substantive acceptance of, and substantive action in accordance with, the fundamental principle ‘we are responsible for each other'–or at least we most definitely should be so. Those and other reflections will be soon forthcoming.
